I started to write a post about two weeks ago about life RIGHT after the baby, but things just kept happening that prevented me from finishing. We LOVE our little boy! He is so adorable and so sweet!
For a quick overview, in his quick four weeks of life, we have had the regular sleepless nights, feeding like crazy, and trying to balance our elderly care job and Devin's schooling with a new baby (with LOTS of help from our moms).
However, we have also had the irregular: recovery after an almost ten pounder that I thought was just really bad until we realized my 103 fever and killer pain was an infection called endometritis, and ALMOST hospitalization, 2 shots to my hips, 2 weeks of antibiotics with mucho nausea, the out-the-"other-end" experience that follows REALLY strong antibiotics, another infection that comes with all of that, limited breast feeding options, and beaucoup problems for baby's tummy because of the five pills I was taking; and now, a week of the swine flu for Devin--accompanied by all its disinfecting, endless worry, constant rectal temperature-taking for Camden, etc. etc. (Yes, that is the hugest run-on sentence ever! But that is literally what our life has felt in the recent weeks) We have had to ask for a lot of help and are very appreciative of all of the ways we were extended help and blessings. Luckily, Camden nor I have gotten the flu, but I am sure we are not over the scares yet. Believe it or not though, I can honestly say things have really gone well for us! We are so grateful for our handsome young man. He gives me some of the cutest smiles!
In the midst of all of that, we WERE able to bless our handsome boy. He was SO sharp in his little white tux and SOOO good! It was his first experience at church outside of the womb and he did AMAZINGLY well! Devin gave a beautiful blessing and I was impressed, as usual, with the spirit that he is able to convey. I'll get a few pictures up when I can get ahold of them.

Our baby--at the hospital
Mom and Baby three hours after birth

Our Baby--At Home
About to leave the hospital. The little guy didn't like his car seat at first. (Sorry they are blurry)
This was his going home outfit. It was the Virgo outfit that helped us announce to our parents that I was pregnant with Camden--and when he would be arriving.
At home on the couch wrapped in a blanket Auntie Rhonda made for him.
His first time in the swing. He is actually awake in this one....one of the few.
Camden is an EXTREMELY mellow little man. He is just SOOO good! He does like to sleep all day and keep us up all night, but he is JUST. SO. GOOD. We couldn't have asked for a better child.

See this...

It is the 20,000 square foot video screen that this video played on at Saturdays game in the Cowboy stadium. BYU vs. Oklahoma.
I never thought I'd be quite THAT large...kinda embarrassing, but Devin was REALLY proud that I was on the COWBOY's video screen! He wishes he could have gone. But alas, baby's due date was too close to the game for us to feel safe doing that. We had fun watching the game here at home!
70% effaced and 2 cm dilated...
So no change on dilation, but a HUGE difference on effacement (considering I was barely any on Thursday). Plus, the doc can feel Camden's head. If these contractions keep up, maybe I'll have some exciting news by the end of this week!!??

No more pictures, but good news!
Doc says I'm dilated to a 2. He wanted to induce me for next week, but says based on the amount I am dilated, he will wait just a bit longer. I have an appointment on Tuesday, so we'll see if I progress any from now until then!
Other news:
-Dev has now had the flu 9 days. After two doctor appointments, they still aren't testing for H1N1, but don't believe that he has it.
-If I show ANY signs at all of any type of flu when I deliver, they will isolate me from the baby for at least 24 hours. That means no bonding, no feeding, etc.
-The doctor says I should require everyone who comes into the house to wear a mask and/or get both flu vaccinations. Especially considering we have an elderly couple here and will soon have a newborn. Both at high risk. I suppose I will have to buy a box of masks considering we have TONS of people coming in and out of here. Plus, he reminds us how often we need to wash our hands, etc.
These are NOT the circumstances I was imagining bringing a baby into this world. I just hope the flu isn't as bad as they think it will be! But, we've already had 3 of the 4 of us in this house with the regular flu, so guess we will be pretty immune to that! (I'm the only one who hasn't gotten it--which is really a blessing, because someone had to aid these people who are infected AND pregnant women seem to get it worse! Glad I've dodged the bullet for a while. I certainly don't want to have the flu AND be in labor at the same time!!)

Baby update
We went in for an ultrasound this morning and found out some fun facts.
-Our baby's head is HUGE! He is more than in the 90% bracket. This runs in both our families, so I guess I will be lucky to give vaginal birth to him...
-Everything else is about normal for how far along I am,
EXCEPT....
-He is already more than 6 pounds (roughly a pound and a half more than should be at this point)! Which means, I am going to be a big fan of him coming sooner rather than later,
WHICH....
-might be possible because he is already turned head down, face to my back, and REALLY low in my pelvis! (We couldn't even get a good picture of his face because he was too far down) I felt the "lightening" last Wednesday and could definitely tell he had dropped even lower into my pelvis
Our Doc was out of town today but we have an appointment with him next Monday; so she said I'll need to talk with him about what we will do (since his head and weight are larger than normal). It could all happen anytime, I guess!

My fingers are getting fat
But my husband would then correct me with "No, your fingers are getting pregnant..." But we both know they are swelling up in that annoying sort of way that happens the last few months of pregnancy! Every time I have mentioned swelling up or getting fat, the response is as is mentioned above. I know he is trying to be nice, but I know the truth :O) I guess I need to up my water intake.
Anyway, here I am at 32 weeks pregnant--one week ago!
I thought, prior to the taking of this picture, that I looked somewhat cute. I was a little disgruntled when I actually saw it and that my thoughts were inaccurate. Ha! Oh well...I guess all's well that ends well. :O) And it WILL end well, right?!
Ok nevermind...I think my camera was stolen out of Devin's car so I can't get the picture right now. But I'll give you another one that was taken at Antelope Island (North of Salt Lake) next to a tin buffalo. We spent ALL DAY at this island and I was EXHAUSTED by the end of it, so, it's not the greatest....but it gives you the idea of how large I am getting.

*Just as a side note, while we were looking for my camera, we went out to the cars to check for it. The glove comparments and center consoles were open and things were taken out of them--but I don't think anything was stolen. Not that our cars are clean by any degree, but we could definitely tell things were out of place. Kinda creepy; especially when you consider that the other night I went for a late walk and leaned up against my car. I had an eerie feeling that someone was watching me from INSIDE my car so I immediately went inside, but didn't think anything of it until now. Now I am nervous as to what COULD have happened if I had stayed out there!

Megs
Right now she takes care of two old people who give us free food and rent in return. She has really sacrificed a lot for our family so that I can get through school. Now a baby will be added into the mix so she will have three people to take care of. A lot will be required of her and I will be there to help in any way possible. Seeing how much she does for me really inspires me to be the best student and husband that I can be. She's worth every ounce of my effort.
I just want everyone to know that Megan is the best wife and most selfless person ever. I love her and appreciate evrything that she does. (She's also a very pretty lady!)
